Blog Project!!!

Blog project was good.  through the blog project, I could learn more about book and history related to book.  first blog project was about Harper Lee.  When I do that blog, I learned author's life and found there is many connection between author's life and To Kill a Mockingbird.  In second blog project was about gossip in book.  I could understand better about relationships and neighbors when I doing this project.  Third blog project was about brown v. board of education.  From this project I learned many things about racism and I could understand better at setting of book.  Fourth project was about Emmett Till case.  I could learn how white people treat black and how community respond about that in old south.  I also get better understand why people treat Tom Robinson that way.  In fifth blog project I searched for music for To Kill a Mockingbird.  In this project, I didn't know when is due so I did this really quick.  Some how I picked scary sound music for many other scary scene.  This project didn't really helped me.  My opinion in this marking period is we read book really fast.  I could follow this speed because I have Korean To kill a Mockingbird.  I'm not sure I can follow this speed next marking period.  If we are not going to do blog project next marking period, I hope do some review in book.  I know Mr. Juliani don't like to talk in class because he want us to do work, but I like when teacher give many information like Mr. Juliani did in top 10 thing.  I know some people have same problem like me (don't understand book) so I think review is good idea.

Music for to kill a mockingbird

This music sounds little scary.  It played by piano.   I picked this music for to kill a mockingbird for when kids were trying to do stuff with Boo Radley like when they went to Boo Radley's house in night to see if Boo is in the house and what it looks like.  It also can be put in that book when Atticus about to attacked by people in front of jail to protect Tom Robinson.  It can also used in when Ewell tried to kill Scout and Jem.  this can be used in any situation that scary.  This music probably increase scary feeling when its scary scene.

Emmett Till and Tom Robinson

Story of Emmett Till and Tom Robinson is very smiler to each other.  Emmett Til was visit town call Money near Telahachi river (not sure about spelling) in September, 1955 to see his brother.  Emmett Till was fourteen years old black boy.  When Emmett Till went to store to buy candy, some boy said Emmett Till said bad things to white woman.  After someone heard that, they went to Emmett Till and drug him to river and beat him up and shoot him in his head.  Emmett Till's face battered when he died.  Emmett Till's family and friends were very sad and angry so they wanted people to punish someone who killed Emmett Till.   Court room was also segregated.  After 5 days of Trial, jury decided men who killed Emmett Till were not guilty.  They were not guilty because jury thought even though they killed one black boy, that black boy said bad things about white woman.  After Emmett Till case, people said "We're not gonna die like this. Instead, we're gonna live and transform the South so people won't have to die like this." but I heard still some racism is in south of U.S.  In to kill a mockingbird, Tom Robinson's  trial is almost same as Emmett Till's trial.  Only difference is reason for trial and are they alive or not in trial day. Jury in to kill a mockingbird say Tom Robinson is guilty even though everyone knows he is not guilty.  Jury didn’t care about who they were, they only care about what skin color they have.  Every thing was saying Tom Robinson was not guilty.  Tom Robinson can’t use his left hand, which prove that he didn’t hurt Mayella because she only got hurt right side of her body.  During juries are deciding, Sykes say he never seen any jury decide in favor of a colored man over a white man.  There is one very similer story that happened recently.  I saw article that saying black person threw acid on white woman’s face, but police found out that white woman threw acid on her own face and she lie that black person threw acid on her face.  I think this story is very similar to story of Tom Robinson.  I hope this problem gets better as time goes and I also hope word “racism” to exist only in history in future.

Brown v. board of education

(Happy School)

Brown v. board of education something started by suit board of education of the Topeka, Kansas. Suit called for school didn’t allow black kid to go in to that school.  So, that kid had to go to school that far away from home.  This event made huge impact in segregation.  It made black person can go school of white people.  Few schools didn't changed, but still many schools were changed.  Probably it made break segregation more faster because school education is very important to growing children.  They might thought black people are completely different from them.  I know it because when I was in elementary school in Korea.  I thought European,American, and Africans are completely different from me.  Spend childhood with black people break many things.  Probably white person who went school with black person did something for black person.   This event also made more understand in to kill a mockingbird because many segregation stuffs are mentioned in to kill a mockingbird.     Time setting in to kill a mockingbird is 1930s.  Even 1960s had many problems about racism.  I think 1930s have almost nothing for black people (I don’t know much about U.S history).  Black people accused almost every bad things in book and people don’t trust them.   Tom Robinson become very difficult because he is black.  Scout also go through many difficulties in school because Atticus defend Tom Robinson.  Reader of to kill a mockingbird can see little bit about how difficult black people live when Scout go to black people’s church.

Gossip in To Kill A Mockingbird

In To Kill A Mockingbird, many gossips are in there.  character that has most rumors is Boo Radley or Arthur Radley.  He was trouble maker in maycomb when he was little boy.  So, Mr. Radley (Boo's father) take him to home and never let him out from Radley's house.  As a time passed,  people started to get curious about Radley's family, because they closed their door everyday.  maycomb people never close their door unless someone is sick or dead.  One of greatest gossiper in maycomb is Stephanie Crawford.  Many information of Boo Radley is start with "Stephanie said," Even Miss Maudie tell scout that one-fourth of things about Boo is came from Stephanie Crawford, but Kids are also the main reason of the rumors of Boo Radley.  They said Boo Radley throw poisoned nuts over the school, or he eat raw meats.  Because of this rumors, some times people suspect him when misterious crimes happens, but Boo Radley is not only one that be target of gossip in Maycomb. Probably people gossip about Mrs. Dubose, too.  There is no detailed information about her so far, but we can see how much kids are hate Mrs. Dubose in book said " Mrs.Dubose was plain hell " I also remember that one kid walk to school one more mile to avoid Mrs. Dubose and Boo Radley.  I think Mrs. Doubose and Boo Radley are most fearful people in kid's world.

Scout also become victim of gossip in chapter 9.  I don't know much about U.S history, but I guess there was many racism existed during early 1930s.  Even though white people didn't like black people in that time, Scout's father defend black people.  I think this part is most important par in To Kill A Mockingbird, because Scout learn many things in this part. I also don't have much information about this so far.  Scout fight and get in to trouble a lot, because of this event.  Scout become very patient after fighting with Cecil.  Well, she couldn't hold her anger when Francis said about this and get in to trouble.  There is story about gossiping woman.  it's story about someone tell that woman to go up to the roof and stab the pillow and after that gather every single feathers and woman realize what gossip is.  I think see how Scout gather feathers and solve the problem is the fun stuff in in To Kill A Mockingbird.
